Who would be the audience for your media product?

Audience Profile: Demographics & Tastes The target audience for my magazine is girls/women aged 14 - 21, who have an alternative taste in music. As a teenage girl, I noticed that there is a niche in the market for a magazine with similar content to Kerrang! and aimed at females. Therefore, I thought it'd be a good idea to publish a magazine in a genre that doesn't have many magazines within it.A typical member of my target audience.
  My target audience would buy my magazine because there aren't any alternative music magazines aimed at women on the market and it would have gender specific and context dependant advertising so my audience would find the advertisements relevant and catch their attention. I would advertise tours, merchandise, new albums/singles, clothing and make up. 

  • Female
  • Aged 17
  • Music taste - Alternative/rock/pop/punk etc.
  • Reads magazines such as Kerrang! and NME.
  • Uses internet regularly, for social networking (Facebook, Myspace)
  • Not overly fashion conscious, keeps tabs on recent trends.
  • Attends concerts on a regular basis.
