What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

During the time in which I was producing my magazine, I used Adobe Photoshop, Blogger and Flickr. I had to learn to use two of these effectively, as I had not used them extensively before.
Photoshop
I had to learn how to use Photoshop effectively as I hadn't used it very much before and wasn't aware of all the features that were available or how to use them. I learnt how to use the Clone Tool, when I needed to erase any blemishes. I also learnt how to use the Magic Wand tool, which I frequently used to remove backgrounds from my original images. I had to modify the tolerance when dealing with shadows in photos, because before I changed it, it selected too much. A disadvantage of using Photoshop was that because there are so many options, I often found myself getting confused with which effect I had used and where to find it again.

I'd used a blog before, so not all of Blogger was new to me. However, I had to learn how to label a post, because blogs I'd used previously did not have this feature. I also had to learn how to customise my blog and change the design to make it more personal to me.

I already knew how to use Flickr as I had an account previous to starting this unit. I found using Flickr was very useful for this project, as it gave me a place to upload and store photos online, which I could link to my blog with ease. However, as disadvantage of using Flickr in Internet Explorer on the college network is that when I went to annotate a photo, the notes didn't save and I had to use Firefox.

I liked my final compilation of photos for my front cover, because it involved me cutting out each of my models and arranging them. I think it looks quite good as it gives a clear indication as to who the lead is and it's an interesting photo because the layout isn't conventional or something you see very often.
